Big Ambitions PC Hardware Guide
Official requirements explained
The official minimum CPU is listed as an Intel i5 or equivalent. Today that roughly corresponds to an older entry-level processor in the class of the Core i5-4460. It is enough to start the game at basic settings, but there is little headroom.
The minimum graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or equivalent, with at least 2GB of video memory. By current product lines, that is roughly GTX 680 territory, an older entry-level card. The recommended card is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or equivalent with at least 8GB of video memory, roughly comparable to a Radeon RX 5700. That is entry gaming level, and it gives a noticeably smoother picture than the minimum.
The official minimum RAM is 8GB and the recommended amount is 12GB. The game needs 12GB of storage. The publisher does not require an SSD, so a traditional hard drive will run it, though loading will be slower. The recommended CPU is an Intel i7 or equivalent, roughly the level of an older mainstream chip such as the Core i7-6700.
In short, the gap between minimum and recommended is mostly about how much headroom you get. The minimum will run the game, while the recommended tier gives you room to keep settings higher without worrying about stutter.
Recommended builds for three budgets
The entry build suits players on a tight budget who mainly play at 1080p with basic graphics. A GeForce GTX 1650 4GB or RTX 3050 6GB fits here. These cards only meet the official minimum, so you will need to lower settings at higher quality levels. For the processor, a Ryzen 5 3500X or Core i5-10400F already meets the recommended CPU level. Go with 16GB of RAM, since the operating system and background programs take a fair amount of memory on their own.
The mainstream build is the best value for most players. A Radeon RX 5700, RTX 2060 12GB, RTX 3060 8GB, or RX 6600 all meet the recommended GPU level. A Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i5-10400 meets the recommended CPU level. This combination runs stably at recommended settings at 1080p and offers the best performance per dollar.
The high-end build suits players who want higher resolutions or more room to spare. A GeForce RTX 3080 10GB, Radeon RX 6800 XT, or RTX 4070 sits well above the recommended level, so you can run higher settings with plenty of margin. For the processor, a Ryzen 7 9800X3D or Core i9-14900K meets the recommended CPU level, which is already more than enough for this game. Start at 16GB of RAM here as well, with 32GB as a comfortable option.
Graphics settings with the biggest impact
Big Ambitions is a simulation and business game, so the load comes mainly from large numbers of NPCs, street and building detail, and view distance. Shadow quality, volumetric lighting or fog, view distance, and crowd and simulation density are usually the settings that slow the picture down the most. If you need to free up performance, lowering these first is usually the most effective move.
Ray tracing does not always deliver visual gains in proportion to its cost in games like this. If your graphics card sits near the recommended level, consider turning ray tracing off or down and putting that headroom toward crowds and view distance. Texture quality rarely affects performance when you have enough video memory, so you can usually keep it high.
Upscaling technologies such as NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS render at a lower internal resolution and reconstruct a sharper, higher-resolution image. If your card supports them, a quality mode often makes the game feel smoother with little loss in image quality. Compare the options yourself and use whichever looks most natural to you.
Laptops and handheld PCs
A laptop GPU often shares a name with a desktop card but performs noticeably worse. Laptops are limited by power caps and cooling space, so a laptop version of the same model can run well behind its desktop counterpart. When shopping, check the model's actual power limit and cooling design rather than relying on the name alone. For this game, look for a laptop with a dedicated GPU and at least 8GB of video memory, and keep it plugged in so the system can use its full performance.
Handheld PCs such as the Steam Deck or ROG Ally are portable and limited in both performance and cooling. They suit lower resolutions and low to medium graphics settings, and built-in performance tuning options help a lot. We do not have Steam Deck verification data for this game, so use the official requirements as your guide and check community reports before buying.
Storage and memory
The official minimum RAM is 8GB and the recommended amount is 12GB. In practice we suggest going straight to 16GB, since the extra headroom helps avoid stutter when the game is running alongside everything else on your system. If your motherboard supports it, install memory in dual-channel mode, meaning two matching sticks in the correct slots, which gives a noticeable boost to overall performance.
For storage, the official requirement is 12GB, but that is only the rough size of the game itself. Updates and save files will add to that over time, so leave extra room. The publisher does not require an SSD, and a traditional hard drive will run the game, but an SSD shortens loading times noticeably. If your budget allows, we recommend choosing an SSD first.
